Hockey: Indian mens Hockey team defeated New Zealand by 3-2 in the pool A game of the Tokyo Olympics. Harmanpreet Singh scored twice and Rupinder Pal Singh scored one goal for India. Kane Russell and Stephen Jenness scored one goal apiece for New Zealand. Apart from the strikers the hero of the match for the Indian was their goalkeeper PR Sreejesh who sttod like a wall infront of the goalpost. India earned the first penalty corner of the match in the first two minutes of the game but was not able to convert it. In the sixth minute of the first quarter New Zealand team scored the first goal through a penalty corner. However four minutes later Indian team again earnd a penalty corner and this time Rupinder Pal Singh converted it into a goal. In the second quarter Harmanpreet Singh converted another penalty corner to gain 2-1 lead in the match. In the third quarter India again earned a penalty corner and Harman once gain converted it to get 3-1 lead. The first field goal of the match came from Stephen Jenness's stick at the end of the third quarter. After that New Zealand tried really hard to get the equalizer but Indian team's defender and the goalkeeper denied evrytime. Australia, Argentina, Spain and the hosts Japan are the four other teams in Pool A. India will take on Australia on Sunday.
