This is an excerpt from a four hour interview with Mr. Fred Rogers (1928-2003) conducted by Karen Herman for the Archive of American Television on July 22, 1999. This excerpt is approximately 5 minutes into part two of that interview. Mr. Rogers was discussing his vision for the educational value of television.

The YouTube video can also be accessed directly at www.emmytvlegends.com. The purpose of creating this video is to share Mr. Roger's incredible insight on what makes a good teacher and encourage people to view all that he has to say in the complete interview.

Mr. Rogers was most famous for creating and hosting Mister Rogers' Neighborhood from 1968--2001. Mr. Rogers lost a courageous battle with stomach cancer at his home about a year and a half after his retirement on February 27, 2003.
