Rezwana Choudhury Bannya is an exponent of Rabindra Sangeet born in Rangpur, Bangladesh. Banya completed her initial training from uncle Abdul Ali that continued later under the tutelage of Sanjita Khatun and Atiqul Islam at Chayanat and Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) in Dhaka in Bangladesh, later persued her career in Rabindra Sangeet and earned Masters Degree from Visva Bharati, Shantiniketan an University founded by Rabindranath Tagore himself - til date the premiere center for learning Tagore songs and related studies. At Shantiniketan she was under guidance of legendary singers of Tagore songs, like Kanika Banerjee, Nilima Sen, Ashesh Bandopadhyay and Santideb Ghosh, Gora Sarbadhikary, Manju Bandyopadhyay. Altough Rezwana is recognized for her illustrious singing of pure gharana of Rabindra Sangeet, she is also eloquent in folk kirtan and the classical tappa. Rezwana Bannya is known for her clean rendition, impeccable accent, and her willingness to tackle even the most difficult and least popular songs. Bannya is also an ace player of Esraj and Harmonium. Rezwana Bannya is well acclaimed among appreciator of Tagore's Songs across the globe. In 2002 and 2003 she was awarded Ananda Sangeet Puroskar for best female Rabindra Sangeet artist. Inspired by the ideology of Guru Sishya Parampara - she started 'Surer Dhara' a music academy of excellence at Bangladesh.
