How to shape rerebraces pt. ii - Planishing & attaching. Medieval Armor Techniques.
In this second video where I'm taking a look at making shaped a rerebrace, rather than just a tube, we step through how I planish the shape almost into its final shape and attach it to the existing couter.

Shaped rerebrace are prolific through the mid 14th to early 15th century so they are worth learning to do if you make armour for this period. It's taken me several goes at making the rerebrace hold the subtle lines frequently seen in historic iconography. This technique seems to get me the closest but still requires a few more goes to finesse it into the final version I can see in my mind. But it's a promising start.
