$550 House on 4.5 Acres in Churuquita Chiquita

Ramon and Sharon knew they needed a more affordable lifestyle if they were going to retire comfortably. So they left Seattle and moved to Panama — and today, they rent a $550 house on 4.5 beautiful acres not far from Penonomé, Panama.

Their story is a perfect example of how life in Panama can be full of unexpected opportunities. Believe it or not, they found their rental by simply talking to a waiter at a restaurant! That conversation led them to a peaceful home surrounded by nature, with plenty of space, privacy, and a food forest that provides much of the food they eat.

Since moving to Panama, Ramon’s health has improved dramatically. He went from taking 16 medications a day to only two, and he has lost weight, too. Sharon has also been able to slow down and reconnect with one of her passions — making beautiful baskets from pine needles.
