Chicken and Gravy Pantry Dinner! Noreen's Kitchen

Greetings! Since it's Friday, it's time for another installment of Prepper's Pantry and some more ideas of how to use up and rotate all that food storage you are collecting.

I make this meal whenever I need "Fast Food" This meal is quick and I made it in 15 minutes. I did it from start to finish here, to prove just how fast it can be. If you don't like to use gravy mix, than by all means, make your own gravy by using some chicken stock, bullion and flour. Either way it will still be fast and easy. pair this chicken and gravy with mashed potatoes from the food storage or even Noodles or Rice and a vegetable and some home canned cranberry sauce and you have a very nice and satisfying meal.

No one is going to walk away hungry with this meal and if they do, it will be their own fault. As I have prepared it, the chicken and gravy will easily serve 6 people and maybe a couple more small children. I made just enough potatoes for us to have dinner and two lunches. The girls and i finished a half pint of cranberry sauce and we ate one can of corn. I find that for us, the problem with canned corn is that one can is slightly too little and two cans is way too much. I think a viable solution would be to serve some fresh garden salad along side this meal to round out the green factor.

Any way you choose to do this meal, will be hearty, and satisfying. I think it is so important to know how to use what we are storing so that we can be ready in the event that we seriously need to fall back on what we have stored. You also need to rotate your storage, because spoiled food is useless food and wasted money. You may as well have thrown your money in the street if you are not going to be diligent about keeping everything fresh.

If you don't can your own chicken, then use a couple large cans of commercially canned chicken or prepare this meal to suit your own needs. If you are one person, just use the chicken that you need and a small amount of gravy. Easy!
