Picture an impressive skyline with buildings that are so innovative they verge on being works of art, and a waterfront promenade that effortlessly houses the traditional alongside the ultra-modern.
Doha has risen out of the desert, fuelled by innovation and an energetic passion. The result is a city that has very quickly transformed from a humble pearl diving and fishing village to one of the most important and dynamic destinations in the Middle East. The Qatari capital is the base for multi-billion-dollar businesses, glamorous malls, and a myriad of attractions. Home to people from all cultural backgrounds, Doha stands out with its booming cultural diversity.

For centuries, Doha was a fishing village known for its pearl trade. The country’s pearl divers were famed for their skill in finding the largest and most perfectly formed pearls, and the original village was also a busy fishing port for generations.
With the wealth gained from the oil trade in the 20th century, Doha became one of the key commercial centres for the entire region. Today, it is the economic and metropolitan centre of the State of Qatar and an epicentre for business and finance in the Middle East.

Doha, Arabic Al-Dawḥah, city, capital of Qatar, located on the east coast of the Qatar Peninsula in the Persian Gulf. More than two-fifths of Qatar’s population lives within the city’s limits. Situated on a shallow bay indented about 5 km, Doha has long been a locally important port. Because of offshore coral reefs and shallow waters, it handled only small vessels until the completion of its deepwater port in the 1970s.

Long a sleepy pearling and fishing village, Doha had about 350 pearling boats at the beginning of the 20th century. Qatar became an extremely prosperous country with a high per capita income and undertook the thorough modernization of its capital. Old slum sections were razed, and modern commercial and residential quarters were built. The deepwater port accommodates oceangoing vessels. The Qatar National Fishing Company is headquartered at the port.

Sites of interest include Clock Tower Square, the souk, and Government House, built on reclaimed waterfront land.

تعد مدينة الدوحة العاصمة الرسمية لقطر، إذ تقع الدوحة على الساحل الشرقي لشبه الجزيرة القطرية، وتعد الدوحة مركزًا للإدارة والتمويل والنقل والثقافة والخدمات الاجتماعية في البلاد، وقد نمت هذه المدينة في ميناءٍ لصيد الأسماك، إذ كان الميناء يحتوي على 300 سفينة صيد في عام 1939، إذ اعتمد اقتصاد الدوحة بشكلٍ أساسي في تلك الفترة على صيد اللؤلؤ، ولكن تحسن الاقتصاد في ستينات القرن الماضي بعد أن اكتشاف النفط فيها، الأمر الذي ساهم في ازدهار المدينة بشكلٍ سريع، فلقد تم استبدال المساكن البسيطة المكونة من الحجر والطين والأخشاب بشقق ومكاتب شاهقة وفيلات وقصور فخمة، وشوارع فرعية تصطف على جانبيها الأشجار المتنوعة والتي تدعمها بنية تحتية حديثة. على الرغم من هيمنة صناعات والغاز على اقتصاد المدينة، إلا أن التجارة والصيد ما زالت تعود على ميناء المدينة بإيرادات جيدة جدًا، ويعد معظم سكان المدينة من غير القطرين كمثيلاتها من مدن الخليج العربي، حيث يتواجد فيها أعداد كبيرة من الإيرانيين والهنود والفلبينيين والباكستانيين، مما يعكس طابعًا متنوعًا على المطاعم والمتاجر في الدوحة.
أبرز الأماكن السياحية في دولة قطر
تعد قطر من الدول التي تنمو وتتغير بسرعة كبيرة، إذ إنّ اقتصادها الديناميكي من أفضل الاقتصادات الآسيوية، فهي تحتوي على العديد من الفنادق والمنتجعات والمطاعم العالمية وغيرها من المناظر الطبيعية والأمثلة الهندسية المذهلة، وفي ما يأتي بعض أبرز الأماكن السياحية في هذه الدولة: متحف الفن الإسلامي: إذ يوفر هذا المكان العديد من المناظر لالتقاط العديد من الصور المثالية فضلًا عن قيمته الثقافية. سوق واقف: يعد سوق واقف سوق تقليدي لبيع كل شيء من الحيوانات الحية إلى الضروريات اليومية. الكورنيش: يصل طوله إلى 4.5 كم من الكورنيش البحري المثالي للركض. قلعة الزبارة: تعد قلعة الزبارة موقع اليونسكو للتراث العالمي في هذه الدولة. لؤلؤة قطر: هي جزيرة من صنع الإنسان، بحيث تبلغ مساحتها 4 كيلومتر مربع، ويسود فيها طراز البحر الأبيض المتوسط والشواطئ الجميلة. قرية كتارا الثقافية: تقع قرية كتارا في الدوحة، وتضم مدرج، ومتحف، ومركز مؤتمرات، كما تضم العديد من المحلات التجارية والمطاعم والشواطئ. خور العديد: هو ساحل داخلي ذو مظهر خلاب، إذ يجذب العديد من المسافرين منذ العديد من القرون، ويقع في مدينة الوكرة داخل الخليج الفارسي.
