Today, for the first time, we’ve witnessed a sinkhole emerge in the middle of the busy Dhanmondi Satmasjid Road, causing a dangerous collapse and bringing traffic to a complete standstill across the area.
This is not a natural accident—it is highly likely the result of ongoing high-rise construction at the adjacent site, as clearly seen in the aerial photos. The pressure from heavy construction work without proper planning or soil reinforcement has compromised the road infrastructure.
Who will take responsibility now?
This is not just an inconvenience—this is a matter of public safety. Pedestrians, commuters, and residents are all at risk, and the entire Dhanmondi area is now caught in gridlock.
We demand immediate accountability:
An urgent investigation into the cause of the sinkhole.
Transparency from the construction site’s developers.
Concrete action from city authorities to prevent further risks.

আজ প্রথমবারের মতো আমরা দেখলাম ধানমণ্ডির ব্যস্ত সাতমসজিদ রোডের মাঝখানে একটি সিংকহোল (মাটির ধস) তৈরি হয়েছে। রাস্তাটি হঠাৎ ধসে পড়ায় পুরো এলাকায় ভয়াবহ যানজট এবং জনদুর্ভোগের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।
এই ঘটনাটি কোনো প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ নয়—এর পেছনে রয়েছে পাশেই চলমান উচ্চতলা ভবন নির্মাণ কাজ, যা স্পষ্টভাবে ড্রোন বা উপর থেকে তোলা ছবিতে দেখা যাচ্ছে। ভারী নির্মাণকাজ এবং অপরিকল্পিত মাটি খননের ফলে রাস্তার নিচের গঠন দুর্বল হয়ে পড়েছে, যা এই বিপর্যয়ের মূল কারণ বলে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে।
