Brew a Norwegian Farmhouse Ale: Kornøl | Anvil Foundry 6.5 | EP 10

Today I’m brewing a 3 gallon batch of a Norwegian Farmhouse Ale, called Kornøl, on my Anvil Foundry 6.5 gallon brew system. This raw ale hails from northwestern Norway and is brewed with Kveik yeast. They’re typically light in color and carbonation, fairly sweet, and around 6-8% ABV.

While Norwegian Farmhouse ales haven’t picked up steam here in the US, the yeast traditionally used to produce this style definitely has. Kveik is friggin everywhere these days and I understand why. Kveik can ferment a 6-8% beer in a matter of days and produce some amazingly fruity esters at relatively high temperatures. But before I jump on the 3-day-IPA bandwagon, I want to explore this seemingly rare farmhouse style.
