51-year-old Bass sings Vincero in pianissimo! #opera #vocal #vocalcoach
Can you prove vocal health with data? I can.
In this video, I break down the "acoustic footprint" of the operatic voice. I compare the legendary Pavarotti’s forte B4 from “Vincerò” to my own B4 sung in low intensity (pianissimo), and explore why some world-class voices struggle with spectral noise while others remain laser-clear.
The Journey Across 3 Octaves:
This isn't just about a single note; it’s about Vocal Architecture and maintaining integrity across the entire range:
The Foundation (D2 - 73.8 Hz): Starting in the "basement" with a solid, healthy bass foundation. Even at this depth, the signal remains periodic and stable.
The Stress Test (H4 - 494 Hz): Moving to a high-intensity tenor territory. My pianissimo on B4 shows an HNR of 25.2 dB and a Shimmer of only 1.9%. This is surgical precision—while other elites show up to 16% Shimmer and 10x more noise under pressure.
The Resolution (A4 - 453 Hz): Ending with a transition from straight tone to natural vibrato. The result? A staggering HNR of 27.4 dB and 99.7% Autocorrelation.
Why "Singing Lightly"?
As a 51-year-old Bass, I don't rely on muscular force or "knedľa" (the throat-locked sound). My system focuses on Acoustic Geometry. By measuring Harmonics-to-Noise Ratio (HNR) and Jitter/Shimmer levels, we can see the difference between a voice fighting itself and a voice riding the resonance.
Stop pushing. Start measuring. Build a voice that lasts.
📊 Technical Specs of this Session:
Max HNR: 27.469 dB
Min Jitter: 0.170%
Vocal Range in video: D2 (73 Hz) to B4 (494 Hz)
Method: Singing Lightly / Vocal Architecture
