DELHI TOWNHIP, Ohio (Brad Johansen) -- Mount St. Joseph doesn't normally garner extended national attention but Lauren Hill has changed all that.
Tuesday, the MSJ gym housed two of the more prominent cancer fighters in America right now. Devon Still saw the Local 12 story online and reached out to Lauren's coach to see if he could pay a visit to Lauren and the team. On his day off, the Bengals defensive tackle surprised Lauren and the Lions and showed up around 7 a.m. in the midst of the girls' practice time.
Lauren was having a particular tough day as a result of the headaches and lack of sleep from the brain tumor. But when Devon showed up, Lauren perked up and the pair sat and shared the common goal of being messengers to beat cancer and sharing with others in the fight.
Devon then took off to join his teammates working on Hometown Huddle project for the Boys and Girls Club and Lauren went to take a nap.
Joining Local 12 at the gym was Steve Hartman from CBS News. He's producing a feature for the CBS Nightly News to air Friday night at 6:30.
Tickets for the November 2nd opener at Cintas Center against Hiram College go on sale Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.
