Marlboro College Alumni Speaker Arthur Magida Code Name Madeleine: A Sufi Spy in Nazi-Occupied Paris
Marlboro College Alumni Speaker Series Presents: Reading and talk with Arthur Magida ’67 on his latest work - Code Name Madeleine: A Sufi Spy in Nazi-Occupied Paris. Co-hosted by the Marlboro College Alumni Office (Alumni Director Maia Segura) and Marlboro College Professor of Political Science and History Ian McManus
Code Name Madeleine: A Sufi Spy in Nazi-Occupied Paris brings to life Noor Inayat Khan a young mystic who wrote, “The heart must be broken in order for the real to come forth.” A true global citizen: American through her mother, and a princess through her father, Hazrat Inayat Khan, who brought Sufism to the West from India. Growing up in a small town opposite Paris, Noor – a poet, musician and author – was devoted to her family and to her father’s spiritual legacy. As a resistance fighter and spy, World War Two broke Noor’s heart, the real came forth. Noor found herself, and her destiny. Code Name Madeleine is a story of courage, faith, and resilience that is much needed in our own chaotic and shifting age.
Arthur Magida is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Religion, and Writers Who’s Who, and has appeared on numerous tv and radio shows, including Dateline, the CBS Early Show, Court TV’s “Catherine Crier Live,” PBS’s “The MacNeil/Lehrer News Hour,” ABC’s “World News Tonight,” C-Span’s “Booknotes,” and NPR’s “Morning Edition.”
