Decoding Project 2025: More Cuts, Caps, & Limits (= Less $$ for You & Medical Bills!) ☠️ #FAFO

Discover the potential impacts of Project 2025 on our social safety nets & daily lives. Proposed by the Heritage Foundation, this plan could reshape America's future, affecting millions who rely on essential services.

Project 2025 suggests stricter work requirements to qualify for SNAP & new limits and harder qualifications for free school lunch programs, potentially depriving low-income families & children of critical nutrition assistance.

The plan also aims to end the Head Start program, affecting over 800,000 children who depend on early education & health services! I don't know about you, but MANY of my friends went to Head Start! Head Start programs also help young students prepare and enter college! Why do we need to cut that?

They want to limit (AKA "cap") how much the government gives to fund the Medicaid program (called "federal funding caps"), which means Medicaid recipients will not receive the same level of care if services are cut.

Project 2025 also proposes "Lifetime Benefit Limits", which reduces healthcare access for our most vulnerable populations, because if a Medicare recipient were to need medical care that exceeded their "Lifetime Benefit Limits" - then that would be too bad and up to the patient to figure out. Do you have any family members on Medicare? Parents? Grandparents? Children? Are you on Medicare? Can you imagine being so sick for so long and needing so much care that you exceed your Lifetime Limit only to find that your insurance won't cover the rest for you?

The plan also seeks to end federal student loan forgiveness, increasing financial burdens on borrowers, particularly those in public service roles.

By reducing taxes on investment income, Project 2025 could widen the gap between the wealthy & the rest of us, impacting retirement savings for many, and making the rich richer, while the rest of us are paying more than our fair share in taxes. Additionally, they propose measures to weaken labor unions & eliminate overtime protections that threaten workers' rights & job security! These are not proposals made by people with our best interests at heart.

This is a critical time in history and we must stay alert and informed to understand the broader implications of all that Project 2025 entails. It's time to protect the social programs that support our communities & ensure a fair & equitable future for all.

AFSCME research shows Project 2025 would hurt working people by:
☢️ Allowing states to ban labor unions in the private sector.
☢️ Making it easier for corporations to FIRE WORKERS who engage in collective action or organizing.
☢️ Allowing corporations to GET RID OF unions EVEN WHEN the workers are PROTECTED by a SIGNED union contract.
☢️ Forcing workers to hold secret ballot elections to form a union even when their employer has agreed to voluntarily recognize it.
☢️ Eliminating overtime protections for workers.
☢️ Ignoring the federal minimum wage.
☢️ Eliminating the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, which has relieved many AFSCME members of an overwhelming student debt burden.
☢️ Ending merit staffing in the federal government so unqualified loyalists can be hired to replace thousands of positions now filled by qualified, trained, nonpartisan career employees.
☢️ Eliminating federal rules to lower the minimum age requirement for labor so they may begin working at a younger age, instead of being in school. And they also want to eliminate the federal laws that protect children from working in mines, meatpacking plants, and other dangerous workplaces.
