SMOKING 6 PACKS, 24 COFFEES, 2H SLEEP BEFORE D-DAY⚡ #history #army #ww2

Before the historic D-Day invasion, Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower was under unimaginable pressure. The fate of World War II rested on his shoulders.
In the days leading up to June 6, 1944, Eisenhower was smoking up to 6 packs of cigarettes a day, drinking 24 cups of coffee, and sleeping only 2 hours each night. The stress was crushing. Yet despite everything, he remained calm and made one of the most critical decisions in modern history — giving the final order to launch the Normandy Invasion.
The weather was terrible. Eisenhower had already postponed the attack once. On June 5, he made the courageous call to go ahead despite the risks. He even wrote a handwritten note in advance, taking full responsibility if the invasion failed: “Our landings have failed and I have withdrawn the troops.”
On June 6, over 156,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. Thanks to Eisenhower’s leadership, the operation became the largest amphibious invasion in history and changed the course of the war.
Eisenhower later admitted those days were the most stressful of his life. He carried the weight of millions of soldiers and the future of Europe on his shoulders.
Respect to the leaders who made impossible decisions under extreme pressure.
