Coloring Oil Finishes

This explains how to use artists colors to tint a linseed oil based finish, and how to use them to color the soundboard prior to finishing with a linseed oil based finish like Tru-Oil. It covers what types of oil paints to use, where to get them, how to apply and cut them back, and how to seal in the color with top coats. This is by far the easiest way to get a semi-transparent bold colored finish on a guitar top and still retain the hand oiled finish look. Works on other light colored wood projects as well.
