U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs has ruled that the Trump administration unlawfully terminated around $2.2 billion in federal research grants to Harvard. The court found the cuts were retaliatory, using concerns about antisemitism as a smokescreen for ideological control. Their termination violated the First Amendment, the Administrative Procedure Act, and civil-rights statutes. Harvard’s funding is now restored at least for now as the White House pledges to appeal.
