Designing and wiring a camper van build electrical system is one of the most critical aspects of any van build. Bringing power into a van can be the difference between rouging it and living in comfort. Proper planning and electrical design is critical to creating an efficient system that doesn't need tons of electrical wiring to make the system work. Our system is going to be run off of a Lynac Lithium Iron Phosphate batter - a 200Ah one to be exact. We chose lithium for a number of reasons, but primarily because it is designed to handle high output applications without dropping voltage, and the batteries can discharge 80% of its capacity without damaging the battery.

We will also be putting in an inverter with an induction cooktop into our van to serve as our main source for cooking. While it may be surprising to a lot of our viewers, we have decided to forego solar in favor of a DC-DC charger as our main battery charging method - mainly because solar isn't practical in Canada for 4-6 months to begin with, and we choose to spend our summers in mountains and forested areas. While our opinions on this may change in time, for now we are satisfied with our decision to forego solar and instead increase the size of our battery bank.
