2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance Review: The Electric BMW Fighter - Inside Lane

This is the highly anticipated Tesla Model 3, an electric car so popular that it received 325,000 preorders within the first week! Our test car is the 335Kw or 449bhp Dual Motor Performance model. It's capable of 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 162mph.

What's really impressive is not its 329 mile range, or autonomous features, but how it is a genuine alternative to a BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The Model 3 starts at £39,000 with this Performance model being £53,000.

It's a reasonable practical car with a 425-litre boot and a spacious interior. The cabin is dominated by a large 15 inch touchscreen infotainment system. It's easy to use, full of features, and as responsive as the most premium of tablets.

There are some questionable material choices, and some panel gaps are larger than found on rivals, but make no mistake, this can be a genuine alternative for any premium combustion model.
