AetherBridge: Sovereign PayFi for AI Agents | Stellar Hacks 2026

AetherBridge is the financial infrastructure protocol designed to bridge the $2.1T agentic commerce gap. While AI agents can plan and reason, they remain "unbanked" and unable to cross the "Payment Walls" of the modern web. AetherBridge provides the Sovereign Agentic Rails necessary for machines to settle payments autonomously, securely, and without human intervention.

🚀 The x402 Lifecycle on Stellar:
This submission demonstrates a complete autonomous payment flow using the Stellar Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) and the x402 (Payment Required) standard:

The Challenge: An agent hits a premium API and receives an HTTP 402 error.

Economic Evaluation: AetherBridge intercepts the challenge and applies our Economic Decision Model (EDM) to verify the cost against user-defined spending limits.

Soroban Authorization: The agent signs a non-custodial Soroban Auth Entry, authorizing a specific payment for a specific resource.

Atomic Settlement: The transaction settles in USDC on the Stellar Testnet in sub-seconds, verified on stellar.expert.

🛠 Key Innovations:

PayFi Interceptor: A middleware layer that handles machine-to-machine (M2M) settlement via x402.

Smart Account Guardrails: Utilizing Soroban’s native authentication to ensure agents never overspend their allocated budget.

Gas-less Scaling: Leveraging the OpenZeppelin Facilitator to sponsor gas fees, allowing fleets of 10,000+ agents to operate with zero XLM balance.
