How to Make the Translucent Wood and Epoxy Bowl: THE CHAOS BOWL - CNC Woodworking

Hey epoxy CNC woodworkers! THIS BOWL IS A FAILURE! I think it looks ugly; what do you think? Watch me make this CNC'ed bowl from scratch. This bowl actually started out with California madrone that I harvested last summer. I thought it would be cool to break the wood in a chaotic manner and have it show through some smoky translucent black epoxy. Hence, I call it the "CHAOS BOWL". I don't think I placed the pieces quite right, and the epoxy overtook the bowl. I really need to get a vacuum chamber to do these type of castings; it would suck out all air bubbles. My casting technique left a lot of trapped air, and it showed up in the final piece; I don't blame the resin but my technique.

I designed this bowl in Fusion 360; I used it for both the CAD and CAM work. I'm down for sharing the design in case anyone wants to reproduce this for non-commercial purposes. The bowl was machined on a Tormach PCNC 1100; the machine runs a little slow (RPM-wise) for wood, but I'm making it work. I really would love a dedicated wood CNC machine!
