पालघर जिल्ह्यातील वैतरणा नदीच्या खोर्यात येणारा कोहोज किल्ला काहीसा अल्पपरिचितच आहे. वाडा - पालघर रस्त्यावरचा ‘कोहोज’ हा प्रमुख किल्ला वाड्यापासून अवघ्या १० ते ११ किलोमीटर अंतरावर वसलेला आहे. ‘कोहोज’ किल्ल्यावरील माणसाच्या आकाराच्या निसर्ग निर्मित सुळक्यामुळे या भागातून प्रवास करताना हा किल्ला आपले लक्ष वेधून घेतो. मुंबई - ठाण्याहून जवळ असूनही या भागातल्या किल्ल्यांवर डोंगर भटक्यांचा वावर तसा कमीच आहे.

पोहोचण्याच्या वाटा :
किल्ल्याच्या पश्चिमेला नाणे गाव आहे आणि पूर्वेला वाघोटे गाव आहे . दोन्ही गावातून गडावर जाण्याच्या वाटा आहेत.

वाघोटे मार्गे जाण्यासाठी :-
१) मुंबई - अहमदाबाद महामार्गावर (एन.एच.८) मुंबई पासून ९० किलोमीटरवर मनोर गाव आहे. येथून वाड्याला जाणारा फाटा फूटतो. या मनोर - वाडा रस्त्यावर मनोर पासून १३ कि.मीवर "वाघोटे" हे किल्ल्याच्या पायथ्याचे गाव आहे. या गावातून ठळक पायवाट धरणाच्या तलावाच्या भितींवरुन किल्ल्यावर जाते.

२) कल्याण - भिवंडी - वाघोटे ( कोहोजच्या पायथ्याचे गाव) हे अंतर ६३ किलोमीटर आहे. गावातून ठळक पायवाट धरणाच्या तलावाच्या भितींवरुन किल्ल्यावर जाते.

नाणे मार्गे जाण्यासाठी :-
३) मुंबई - अहमदाबाद महामार्गावर (एन.एच.८) मुंबई पासून ९० किलोमीटरवर मनोर गाव आहे. येथून वाड्याला जाणारा फाटा फूटतो. या मनोर - वाडा रस्त्यावर मनोर पासून ३ किलोमीटर अंतरावर उजवीकडे "नाणे" गावाला जाणारा फ़ाटा आहे . नाणे हे किल्ल्याच्या पायथ्याचे गाव आहे. या गावातून पायवाट किल्ल्यावर जाते.

४) कल्याण - भिवंडी - कुडूस - नाणे हे अंतर १०४ किलोमीटर आहे. नाणे गावातून पायवाट किल्ल्यावर जाते.

राहाण्याची सोय : गडावर राहाण्याची सोय नाही.
जेवणाची सोय : जेवणाची सोय आपण स्वत: करावी.
पाण्याची सोय : पिण्याचे पाणी गडावरील खांब टाक्यात मार्चपर्यंत असते.

The Kohoj that occurs in the Vaitarna river valley in Palghar district is somewhat unknown. The major fort 'Kohoj' on the Wada - Palghar road is situated at a distance of just 10 to 11 km from the Wada. How to Reach:
To the west of the fort is Nane village and to the east is Waghote village. From both the villages there are parts of going to the fort.
To go through Vaghote :-
1) Manor village is located 90 km from Mumbai on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway (NH8). From here the fort leading to the castle splits. "Vaghote" is a village at the base of the fort, 13 km from Manor on this Manor - Wada road. From this village, a prominent trail leads to the fort along the banks of the dam lake.

2) Kalyan - Bhiwandi - Vaghote (village at foothills of Kohoj) distance is 63 kms. A prominent footpath from the village leads to the fort along the banks of the dam lake.

To go through Nane Village :-
3) Manor village is located 90 km from Mumbai on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway (NH8). From here the fort leading to the castle splits. On this Manor-Wada road, at a distance of 3 km from the Manor, there is a road leading to "Nane" village on the right. Nane is a village at the base of the fort. A trail leads to the fort from this village.

4) Kalyan - Bhiwandi - Kudus - Nane distance is 104 kms. A trail leads from Nane village to the fort.

Accommodation: There is no accommodation at the fort.
Food facility: You have to make your own food.
Water facility: Drinking water is available in the pillar tank on the fort till March.
