Let’s make homemade Oreo Ice cream!

Homemade ice cream brings such happiness to my soul and great childhood memories. Join me today in the first of I hope many, time in the kitchen with me. Fashion is definitely one of my passions, but I also love to cook and bake for the people I love. I’m getting back into the kitchen to rekindle that part of me that I lost for awhile. So join me today as I use my kitchen-aid ice cream attachments to make the best tasting ice cream.

Ice Cream Base Recipe

Get a Heavy bottom sauce pan
Turn on medium heat and pour in 1 1/4 Cup half and half cream until small bubbles form around edge of pan and it’s steamy, but DO NOT BOIL THIS!

While the half and half is heating up break and separate 5 egg yolks, dash salt 2/3 C sugar mix and mix together in a bowl with a wire whisk until fully combined and egg yolks have turned a light yellow.

Make sure to check your pan cooking your half and half and stir occasionally until the little bubbles appear and steam is coming off mixture, then turn off your burner and move pan off heat.

Slowly add the heated half and half to your egg mixture while whisking it in as you add it until fully incorporated.

Then put your egg and cream mixture back into your saucepan over medium heat until tiny bubbles form on edge of pan and make sure to keep stirring until it begins to steam and tiny bubbles appear. Turn off heat and pour back into your mixing bowl.

Add 2 tsp. Vanilla extract or 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp vanilla bean paste. Mix together with whisk. Then Add 1 1/4 C heavy whipping cream. Mix together. Cover with lid or Saran Wrap and put into refrigerator overnight or until fully chilled.

This is your base. When you are ready to make your ice cream, get your frozen ice cream bowl along with paddle attachment for your kitchen aid, turn it on low (1-2 speed), once it’s churning, pour your chilled base into your bowl to begin churning. If you are adding add-ins, start that process a little at a time around 5 minutes in to the churning process. Ice cream should be ready to put into your ice cream container after approximately 20 minutes or when your ice cream is at the top of your bowl.

Freeze your finished product 4-8 hours or overnight. Enjoy!
