MOD Boscombe down plane spotting on 20/5/2020

Something a bit different here. As per the current government guidelines I went out for some exercise. I went to one of the most secure and secretive bases in the UK. MOD Boscombe Down in Wiltshire. The main reason I went was for Lear jet 25D. A 1981 classic bizjet. The Lear jet family Is one of the most successful Business jet families in the world. Developed from a Swiss built Ground attack fighter in 1960's hence it's wing tanks on the earlier models up until the 35/36 models. The learjet 25 was lengthened version of 24 and first flew in 1966. They were known for exceptional climb rate and level cursing speeds. With it's CJ610 turbojets it makes quite a racket and sounds like a jet should sound like. Production ended in 1982 but, there's still a few about, though they a increasingly rare sight and hard to find.
So I thought I would head down to see it, I knew it was airborne on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10am and 12pm. So looking at the weather I thought Wednesday would be the best day.
I got down there around 8am. I researched the best place to go. Knowing that if there is anywhere in the UK that is going to get funny about Photographers and Videographers it was here. I made sure that I didn't get the attention of the police. The spot I picked was just off the A303 along the Allington track and pulled off to the left next to the landing lights. Which gives you a great view of the main runway 23 and a most of airfield. The main thing was that spot was well away from the fence. They get very funny about people up next to it. In the cold war days I heard of story that a chap had to destroy his film from his camera. So knowing this I knew it wasn't wise to get close to the fence. So basically if your planning to spot here. Just use your common sense and stay well away from the fence. If your just logging you should be fine.
Anyway other than the lear. it was a fairly busy day with the QinetiQ aircraft, AS350, PC-21, Avro RJ70 and Cobam Griffin and Army cops Apache's and a nice old Bell 212 very Huey like awesome sound. There was also HHA Hunter ZZ191 doing some contract work for the MOD. It departed and when it came back it did an overshoot that was jolly loud and a high speed run and break before landing. That was an awesome sight. The lear also did a wing rock and left hand break before landing. Other things were a Chinook that had been upgraded from MK5 to 6 and was doing engine runs for 4h's. There was even a Private Beech C23 that came from Cardiff. Overall incredible diverse and busy day down there. I really enjoyed my day there. The weather was just brilliant. only issue was the heat haze was terrible and me not being not used to tracking aircraft overhead and stuff so sorry about a few shots where a lost track or were shaky.

Anyway hope you enjoy the clips I got from all the movements I saw much more than I was thinking. Like, comment, subscribe for more aviation related material. Thanks for watching
