Thinking deeper into our situation, my children were not the only ones affected by that heartless XXXXX husband's betrayals. Come to think of it; animals are just as understanding as we humans are. They know and feel when things are not right or when things are out of place. There is an old saying that implies when lots of birds perch and rest at the front of your house, it usually speaks on your family's state of happiness. I used to think this was stupid and folly, though come to think of it, those birds never came back to our house once things escalated in darkness for my family. But my family's pain translated to our animals. Most specifically, our dog and cat, quite a long story, but to explain it quickly without losing essential details, we gave our dog away to someone we believed would also give him good care. You see, at the time this was happening, my young children were experiencing the most challenging time of their life; emotionally, psychologically, and even financially. We had to cut corners to survive, and real estate open houses made it even worse for us. So giving Garnet a new home was the best option when the house went on the market. Unfortunately, he had to go through multiple owners. He even escaped during his time at one of the previous owner's house, and the owner didn't even seem to care. Garnet ran and walked away for more than 30 kilometers by himself. To think about what kind of adventure he had to go through! Garnet made it to this old couple's house and rested for the nights; it was only until the third day we got a call from the people who found him to inform us that the last owner did not bother to get Garnet. When we picked him up, he immediately ran to us and gave us licks. They even said he was getting excited while we were on our way. I believe this as dogs have a great sense of smell. I'm sure he could sense we were on our way. I have decided not to return him to that person. Garnet running away from him for the third time implies something. After that incident, I still and painfully had to give him away—this time, to my son's friend, where he stayed for a year and a half. I could not thank him enough for looking after Garnet during that time as it was the same time my family was selling and moving house. He recently told me he could not look after him anymore and if it was okay to part him away. Yesterday, I have decided that we'd take Garnet back, regardless of the apartment rules here, as we were stable for once in our lives and at peace. You're braver and bolder to take the risk, yet I have to tell the manager. But rules are rules. I am too prepared for that. So Garnet's story continues onwards with the Ganzon family's adoption (Marlon's relatives) as we can't keep him at our apartment forever. Dogs are not allowed here. As for my cat Floyed, he has also experienced many moving and different owners, the same reason as Garnet. More than 6, I believe. His story may not have been as intense, but I feel his sadness. Both of them felt a sense of disownment, sadness, and confusion. Why am I always being handed over to different people? To think of it, you may say they are just animals, and they wouldn't care. But could you imagine if that happened to you, not knowing where you truly belong? The animals feel just as much as we do, and come to think of it I shouldn't be calling them animals. But our family. We will enjoy this time that God is giving us again to spend with Garnet. And when that time comes that the new family is ready to take him, it will be the last time he'll ever feel confused. I know that he will be dearly loved there, too.
