U.S. negotiating because sanctions failed, says Iran's FM

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the United States was engaging in negotiations with his country because their "cruel sanctions" have not yielded the expected results.

“If they were sure they could bring us to our knees, they would not negotiate,” Araqchi said at a local summit in the city of Shiraz.

Tehran and Washington will hold a fifth round of nuclear talks on Friday in Rome amid strong disagreement over uranium enrichment in Iran.
