Anorexia recovery // Making Recovery Changes // Breaking Rigid Habits & Routines

Sometimes with anorexia recovery you can get stuck engaging in rigid habits and routines. It is often an eating disorder behaviour that you do that feels safe and reduces anxiety. But it is important in anorexia recovery that we make changes and try and break rigid eating disorder habits and routines.

In my ED recovery I found myself feeling safe if I kept certain things the same. I was worried that if I changed things, something bad would happen. Overtime, I have been able to challenge this so that I have been able to not find myself rigidly following anorexia’s rules.

But sometimes these eating disorder rules and anorexia rules can creep back in. And I have found myself recently going back to not wanting to change certain things because I feared something bad would happen. But I am deciding to challenge this again and keep progressing my anorexia recovery. A life following rigid ana rules is not a life I was to live.
