JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: 240v supply verified at outside unit terminals.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: All electrical and refrigerant connections good.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Initial power applied was only one phase of 240 for a few minutes.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Could that have caused a problem, like blown control board fuse?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: What's the brand and model of your HVAC unit?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: How old is it?

airheatman: HVAC Technician: Give me the model on outdoor and look to see if there is a little fuse on the computer board .
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Hi Tim, model MRCOOL DIY-18-HP-C-230B.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: It's a new install and still under warranty, so I'm reluctant to start opening it to find the control board.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: I believe I know the answer to my original question, so I think this could be a warranty issue.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: I was just concerned that mistakenly using a single pole disconnect (which I am replacing with a double pole) could have caused a problem when power was applied to only one side of the 240vac.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: I now realize that without a complete 240 circuit, there could not have been any current flow to the unit until both sides of 240 were connected, so no harm done.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: When fully connected, I do measure 120vac from each outside unit power terminal to ground, and about 3vac across the two 240 phases.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: I'll be contacting MRCOOL for support tomorrow.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: It will be raining here until Tuesday, so I won't be doing anything outside until then.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Thanks for your reply, but I will probably be cancelling my JustAnswer account later today.
airheatman: HVAC Technician: I agree that just applying 120vac should not have damaged anything.
airheatman: HVAC Technician: Make sure we read 240vac BETWEEN the two hot legs though.
airheatman: HVAC Technician: If you connect a double pole 240v breaker (Two 120 legs) we should have 240v BETWEEN them.
airheatman: HVAC Technician: If only getting 120v from one hot leg at panel we would read the same 120v on both legs as it comes through windings in unit.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: I've confirmed 240vac between legs at disconnect box.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: When connected to unit, I only see 3vac across legs.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: I'm assuming the 240vac goes directly to a transformer primary and there is essentially no load if it's not turning on.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: I'm not going to disconnect from the unit and test the feed wires in the rain, but I'm confident the wire connections from the unit to the disconnect box are good, especially since I'm seeing 120vac from each leg to ground.
airheatman: HVAC Technician: I totally understand.
airheatman: HVAC Technician: Just let me know if I can assist.
