American Kennel Club Reveals Bracco Italiano As 200th Dog Breed

Brandi Hunter Munden, VP of PR & Communications of American Kennel Club and Dog Owner, Lisa Moller discuss AKC’s 200th dog breed, what characteristics are unique to the Bracco, the advice they have for families interested in adopting a Bracco and what we can expect to see from this specific dog breed in future dog shows.

The Bracco Italiano AKA the Italian Pointer is the 200th breed to be recognized by the American Kennel Club and will join the “sporting group” as of June 29. The Bracco is a hunter, pointer and retriever that developed to accommodate hunters’ needs and is one of the oldest of the pointing breeds. Bracchi Italiani were introduced in the U.S. in the 1990s and have remained true to their heritage as a versatile gun dog and are tireless in the field.
