Human CNC - Monogram cut out with Dremel rotary 4000 - Time lapse

I became a human CNC machine using a dremel 4000 rotary tool with the 565 Multipurpose Cutting Kit to cut half inch MDF board.

This is a project I worked on over the course of 3 days (probably 18 to 20 hours). I started the camera about 4 hours into the project. The magic of timelapse compresses 16 hours down to about 25 seconds. I sanded it (didn't time lapse it because I didn't think it would show much) and still need to paint it.

My very talented graphic designer and soon to be wife designed the monogram and had it printed. We traced it onto the mdf board using that carbon tracing paper then I meticulously hand cut the mdf board. The top speed on the dremel caused the tool to wander and made it difficult to keep everything steady. I don't remember the exact speed but I do remember slower is better. I would recommend starting off on the slowest speed and testing on an area that will not be part of the final product. Start slow and gradually increase the speed until it feels comfortable.

As you can see in the video I used a fan and compressed air to help blow away the dust while cutting. the fan also helped keep me cooler in the summer heat. I cut the interior pieces first. At the end I used a jigsaw to rough cut the larger exterior pieces away and then used the dremel to make the fine cuts.
