Rob gets a hands-on look at the brand new Tudor Monarch reference M2639W1A0U-0001 at both Watches & Wonders and at the DMR Tudor Boutique in Manchester City Centre.

Specs
39mm stainless steel sharply faceted angular case with a thickness of 11.9mm and a lug-to-lug of about 46mm with a Stainless steel bezel with both polished and satin finishes and a screw-down crown.

Dark champagne-color brushed-patterned time-only dial with applied hour markers that incorporates two different styles of numerals: Roman from 10 to 2 and Arabic numerals from 4 to 8, a California dial, and black railroad minute track and small seconds at 6 o’clock.

In-house “adjacent” Kenissi COSC and METAS certified automatic movement Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U with 65 hours power reserve and an open caseback with Côtes de Genève finishing and 18ct gold inlay on the rotor. It's waterproof to 100m or 330ft with a 2-link faceted bracelet with angular center links, TUDOR "T-fit" adjustable clasp.

Also, we have a quick history of the California Dial, including vintage Rolex, Panerai, Serica and Nomos Glashutte.

Is this a fresh, interesting design for Tudor, or is the Monarch a "watch by committee?"
