Authentic Bengali Muri Ghonto Recipe | Gobindobhog Rice & Rui Fish Head — RannaWithAnita

Muri Ghonto – a quintessential Bengali delicacy made with aromatic Gobindobhog rice, golden fried potato cubes, and rich Rui fish head, slow-cooked to perfection with fragrant spices. 🍚🐟

In this video, I’ll guide you step-by-step to make this traditional dish just like at home in Bengal.
Perfect for special lunches or family get-togethers!

Ingredients:
1 Rui fish head
1 cup Gobindobhog rice (washed)
1 large potato (cut into cubes)
1 tbsp ginger paste
1 tbsp green chilli paste
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Whole spices: bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, dry red chillies, cumin seeds, fennel seeds
Mustard oil
Salt to taste
1 tbsp ghee

Method:

1. Marinate fish head with salt & turmeric, then fry in mustard oil.
2. In the same oil, temper with whole spices.
3. Add potato cubes, salt & fry till golden.
4. Add ginger paste, green chilli paste, cumin & coriander powder, turmeric powder. Fry well.
5. Add washed rice & fry for a few minutes.
6. Add fried fish head, hot water, cover & cook for 20 minutes till rice is done.
7. Finish with a spoon of ghee. Serve hot.
