A few months ago I made a segmented canister for my oatmeal, and I really liked it, so I want to make more segmented projects. I modified a table saw sled/tapering jig to cut the segments. It worked just fine, but it took several tries to set the cut angle. To cut parts for a ring with a different number of segments, I would have to readjust the fence with several more tries to get a different angle.
To replace that sled, I made a new miter jig for my table saw. It is adjustable from 0 - 45 degrees, locks securely, and has a fine adjustment bolt to get the angle just right. The trail you see toward the end of the video really is the very first test, and by using the adjustments and a digital angle gauge, the segments came out just right.
