FORGOTTEN AMERICA!! 15 Washington Small Towns That Are Quietly Turning Into Ghost Towns
FORGOTTEN AMERICA!! 15 Washington Small Towns That Are Quietly Turning Into Ghost Towns #worldside #washington #ghosttowns #abandoned #forgotten #smalltowns #documentary #america
Washington is often known for Seattle, evergreen forests, mountain landscapes, and booming technology hubs. But hidden beyond the modern image of the Pacific Northwest lies another side of the state—one filled with abandoned towns, mining ruins, forgotten railroad settlements, and communities slowly disappearing into silence.
In this documentary-style video, we explore 15 ghost towns and struggling historic settlements across Washington State. Some of these places completely collapsed after gold, coal, silver, or logging industries failed. Others still have a few residents left behind, quietly surviving while economic opportunity fades away year after year.
We begin in Molson, one of Washington’s most cinematic ghost towns near the Canadian border, before traveling through eerie places like Govan, Sherman, and Chesaw, where old schools, churches, and wooden buildings still stand alone against massive open landscapes.
Deep in the Cascade Mountains, we visit the haunting ruins of Monte Cristo, once backed by major industrial investors during the silver mining boom. We also uncover the tragic story of Wellington, site of the deadliest avalanche disaster in American history, and the submerged remains of Moncton, now hidden beneath the waters of Rattlesnake Lake.
Along the way, we explore struggling towns such as Republic, Toledo, and Vader, where shrinking populations, aging infrastructure, and economic decline create the feeling of places slowly losing their future.
From isolated forests to abandoned coal camps, these Washington towns reveal a hidden side of the Pacific Northwest rarely seen by outsiders. They are reminders that industries rise and fall, transportation routes shift, and entire communities can disappear when economic purpose fades away.
Some of these places are already gone. Others are still fighting to survive.
