Wielding the Tonfa: Utilizing Grappling Techniques to Release the Grip on a Bo
Tashi Peter Carbone and Sensei Jay Penfil, both of the Ryukodo Weapons Society, demonstrate techniques with the traditional Okinawan weapon, the tonfa. Watch as these guys "play" thru variations of techniques versus a bo, grappling with the opponent, blocking, striking, locking and manipulating the opponent to gain control. In this video they show how to use the tonfa to break the grip of the opponent wielding the bo. The Weapons Society (Ryukyute Kobujutsu Hozon Budo Kyokai - meaning Hand of Ryukyu Old Warriors Art Weapons Preservation Society) holds a Weapons Camp several times throughout the year.
