Tour de France 2002 - stage 16 - Les Deux Alpes to La Plagne, 179,5km.
A big and exciting stage. 3 big mountains, Col du Galibier, Col de la Madeleine and La Plagne. All the big riders were firing - Laurent Jalabert was very active all day, trying to secure his Polka dot mountains jersey and finally get af stage win.

At the same time, always unlucky Michael Boogerd was trying to live up to the hype surrounding him.

Iban Mayo also decided to show that he was in the race, and did't many powerfull attacks.

Carlos Sastre was not very wellknown at the time, and this was the first time he showed his strength on a big mountain stage.

Lance Armstrong also attacked at made it look easier than ever!
