Big Guys Take Over The Beach (Elephant Seals)

Every summer at Piedras Blancas elephant seal rookery (San Simeon) CA, adult male northern elephant seals return to the beach for a month for a catastrophic molt. Although it is a much quieter time than Jan-March when the males, females and pups are on the beach together for birthing/mating season, often they still stand up to each other to claim their spot on the beach, and do not have a problem with pounding on the younger ones with their entire body to show who is boss.
