Why use The Photographer's Ephemeris?

This 23 minute video uses a series of photographs to illustrate different shooting scenarios in which a photo planning tool like The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) can be useful. This isn't so much "how to" as "why bother". The video talks about the origins of TPE, conceived on a landscape photography workshop in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado in 2008, and shows how the tool can answer critical questions about where and when certain shots can be achieved.
