About Col d'Aubisque - the Western Approach from Beost
Legendary Col d'Aubisque is always a pleasure to ride. Luckily there are several approaches to the epic 'col'. On this ride, we take the western approach. This approach is harder than any of the other approaches. The ride starts outside a small town called Beost. From here we ride along a beautiful backroad and work our way up to the town of 'good water' (Eaux-Bonnes). After Eaux-Bonnes we have a long and beautiful approach towards Gourette, a ski resort nestled among several 2500m peaks. Due to a landslide, the next section would have been impassable a few weeks before. But luckily the Tour de France peloton would arrive in a few days, so the road was repaired in no time so the peloton could follow their original route. Having passed Gourette you’ll start to have extraordinary views of the Pyrenees. You are entering the high mountains now. This is the territory of sheep, big birds, and highly addictive mountain scenery. If you look closely you will see you are followed by a bearded vulture on your way up to epic Col d'Aubisque. The slope is stable around 8-9 percent. Once you see three huge bikes on your right, you know you are almost there. As you get to the top, you step into one of the world's epicenters of cycling history.

Adding music to the ride:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we do not add music to our rides. We simply do not want to spoil your ride with music you do not like. But it is quite simple to add it yourself. Open an extra browser tab. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, YouTube, etc…) and pick the music you like and enjoy the ride...
