PUTIN'S DRONES HIT KYIV'S 975-YEAR-OLD MONASTERY... NOW THE DORMITION CATHEDRAL IS BURNING

On the night of June 15, 2026, Russia launched one of its largest combined aerial assaults of the war, firing 681 weapons including 70 missiles and 611 drones at Ukraine, including six 3M22 Zircon hypersonic missiles. Ukraine's air defenses intercepted 632 of the 681 weapons, including five of the six Zircon missiles, using a recently delivered Patriot system. Despite this, a Russian Shahed-type drone struck the roof of the Dormition Cathedral inside the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a 975-year-old UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the holiest sites in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. The fire covered approximately 800 square meters of the roof before being extinguished, with the cathedral's structural vault preserved. The same night, Russian strikes destroyed Ukraine's largest film costume archive of 100,000 garments at the Dovzhenko Film Studio, and a double-tap strike in Kharkiv killed five rescue workers. At least 11 people died nationwide and 140,000 Kyiv households lost power. Zelensky called it one of Russia's most serious crimes against Christian culture and demanded a G7 response. Full breakdown of the history, the strike, and every verified detail.
