Both teams were tied 1-1 after an hour, with goals from Yasuto Wakizaka (Kawasaki Frontale) and Masakazu Tashiro (Yokohama FC), before two penalities in three minutes for Kawasaki (Yu Kobayashi & Akihiro Ienaga) put the tie to bed. Captain Kobayashi (returning from knee surgery) scored a welcome brace to make it 4-1, with Shogo Taniguchi adding a fifth in injury time. Kawasaki stay J1 League leaders with 13 points from the opening five games.
