Mount Sneffels 14er Southwest Ridge Route Description Colorado

First and foremost this is a serious undertaking. If you have experience in this alpine setting you will find it pretty straight forward. If you do not have some experience or have none at all I would suggest going with someone who does. Below is a link for a guide service that can help.

I have done my best to be as accurate as I possibly can. The lines that show the routes up the mountain may be a little bit off. It is difficult to see the details on the Google maps shown in the video.

The preparation that I discuss is my opinion from my experience. The point that I try to get across is that any outdoor activities like rock climbing, ice climbing, kayaking, hiking and mountaineering come with a certain amount of risk. It is important to have the right gear and as much information as possible to help insure a safe trip. An example for proper gear for this climb other than what I mentioned in the video would be a helmet is a must. There can be many folks on the route and falling rock can be a problem as well as protection should there be a fall. On the preparation I would suggest reading as much about the climb as you can get your hands on. There are many places to get information on-line. Always check the forecast and assume it will not be quite right. And then finally be ready for the evening thunderstorm. You do not want to be high in the mountains when the lightening strikes.
