Tay-Sachs in its Early Stages; Rachaeli at 14 months
Rachaeli Fier: October 25, 2002 - December 14, 2011. This is footage never seen during Rachaeli's lifetime. Though this video was made for sentimental reasons, it also exemplifies the characteristics of a 14 month old with Infantile Tay-Sachs disease. In this video, Rachaeli was still able to see, suck, utter sounds, move her head, neck and extremities, sit up with support, use fine motor skills of the hands, smile, laugh, and engage socially. She would lose most of these skills by the age of 2. We love Rachaeli dearly and we feel honored to have been given the opportunity to care for this precious angel for 9 remarkable years.
