Honest Deputy Refuses a $10,000 cash Bribe from DWI Suspect Ends Up Making a $25,000 Cash/Drug Bust

@Cop Watch has obtained the full traffic stop and evidence intake of a suspect trying to bribe a Santa Fe County Deputy with $10,000 cash on October 5th, 2019 in the early morning hours. We produced and posted the stop and lapel footage to tell the story of an honest police officer.

Santa Fe County Deputy Antony Segura was doing routine patrol when a black Camaro sped past him going 75MPH in a 25MPH zone. Deputy Segura engaged his police equipment to conduct traffic stop in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The traffic stop produced a female who indicated that the suspect Phillip Quintana was the original driver.

Quintana denied being the driver and at one point offered $10,000 for Deputy Segura to let him go.

“I’ll give you ten grand,” he said.

“No, dude. No, no, no, no, no,” he said. “Don't even start with that, bro. It’s going to get worse,” said Deputy Segura

The deputy refused the bribe and continued his investigation with fellow deputies. Deputy Oliver McCartney conducted a search on the black Chevrolet Camaro. He found a quantity of drugs and a Jordan backpack with over $25,000 in cash.

Deputy McCartney later inventoried the evidence with a police Sergeant from the Santa Fe County Deputy office.

Quintana was charged with driving under the influence (DWI), bribing a police officer, and possession of narcotics/drugs.

Quintana has felony charges pending and his case is awaiting trial.
