John Deere L110 Charging System Repair (Re-Uploaded)

The F-250 towed its first load since I've owned it in the form of a 2004 John Deere L110 lawn tractor that was sitting in someone's yard being given away for free. It was being given away because the alternator was purportedly not charging the battery properly.

I seized the opportunity to get this nice machine and have some fun troubleshooting the problem. This video goes over the troubleshooting and thought process I used to diagnose and repair the problem as well as address the design flaw that likely caused the problem initially.

This video was shot over about a week's time at different times of the day so the quality isn't the best. Nothing was edited out so viewers can see the twists and turns that often come up when troubleshooting something. It's interesting how a very good initial assumption can turn out to be incorrect upon further analysis. At the same time, it's exciting to see what journey lies ahead as the problem is finally exposed and addressed. (10/7/2012)
