Today we are going to talk about some the things we can learn from histories greatest speakers...
I recently came across the book 'Speak like Churchill and Stand like Lincoln' by James C. Humes. The book offers over 21 techniques used by some of the greatest speakers of all time.
To give you a little taste, here are 5 tips that I think are incredibly relevant for tour leaders.
As someone who has spent a great deal of time honing my public speaking, I think these tips will offer a few areas where you might be able to improve your skills.
I’ve included a link to the book, "Speak like Churchill and Stand like Lincoln” below, but I also put together a free resource for you as well. “10 Incredible Speeches, by 10 Incredible Speakers.” and it is a hand-picked group of 10 youtube clips to great speakers who all use the techniques we’ve mentioned in this video.
And instead of choosing exclusively political speeches, I’ve included some of the most powerful speeches I’ve seen in the last 5 years. Take a look, enjoy the videos, but most all, watch how they use these techniques.
