Development and Production of Gas Diffusion Electrodes (GDEs) at VITO

The Gas Diffusion Electrode (GDE) is a porous electrode that contains a hydrophilic and hydrophobic side. This allows the direct supply of reactive gases via the hydrophobic side to an electrochemical process in the liquid medium. GDEs are considered to play a crucial role in electrosynthesis, mainly electrocatalytic and bioelectrochemical CO2 conversion. VITO has developed proprietary electrodes, available as VITO CORE® and VITO CASE®. In this video, we provide a glimpse of our electrode production process.
