LIVE case study on the EL RENO TORNADO on May 31, 2013! A meteorological breakdown
LIVE case study / meteorological breakdown of the tragic El Reno, OK tornado setup from May 31, 2013, including a discussion of the thermodynamic and kinematic ingredients that resulted in a record-breaking 2.6 mile wide tornado. Extreme instability, sufficient deep layer wind shear, and an outflow boundary left behind by the storms over the previous night, came together to create the largest tornado in record history and what should have been rated an EF5. This tornado began on a southeasterly course at around 25 mph, before turning to the east and eventually north and accelerating to over 50 mph at peak intensity. RIP Twistex
