Air Cleaner (Shop Air Filtration System) Woodworking Shop 2021

Air Cleaner: In this video Emma talks about a $50 Box fan air cleaner for cheap air filtration in your woodworking shop. Air filtration systems can be expensive, but this box fan air filter is just as effective and much cheaper.

The CFM rating was not tested after the filter was installed.

Fans – These are two of the highest CFM rated fans we could find. The B20540 in this video was much louder then the Lasko 3723 model I use in my shop.

Filters – You need a 20”X20”X1” A/C filter. I suggest using a filter with at least an 11 Merv rating, to block dust particles that are 1-3 micron in size. A Merv 13 rating will block 0.3 micron or bigger but may also reduce the CFM rating even more. I change my filters about every 6 months, however, once per month I will use my dust collection hose to clean them off.

Usage – Use at your own risk. This is not how this fan was intended to be used. The fans in my shop are 3 years old and working fine. For a smaller garage, I recommend 2 fans. In my shop I have three, one is mounted to the ceiling and the other two roll around the shop. They are great for positioning near a project that is being sanded.
