The disappearance and death of Sarah Everard has shone a spotlight on the epidemic of violence against women in Britain, and has provoked an outpouring from women on social media sharing their own experience of harassment, threats and violence at the hands of men.

Given the man arrested on suspicion of Everard’s murder is a Met Officer, the case has also raised serious questions about the police.
