2019 Hurricane Season

The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season officially concludes on Nov. 30.
In total, the season produced 18 named storms and 20 total depressions, including six hurricanes of which three were considered “major” (Category 3, 4 or 5). These included Hurricane Dorian, Hurricane Humberto, and Hurricane Lorenzo.

Please note: This video starts at June 1, though there was a subtropical storm (Andrea) that formed in May. The first hurricane in this video (Barry) appears at 0:13 in the Gulf of Mexico.

The GOES East satellite recorded this imagery of the entire Atlantic basin from its operational location of 75.2 degrees west longitude. This allows us to show storms as they form off the coast of Africa and then enter the Atlantic.
